Spi's for the week: 7.4.1, 7.3.9, 7.3.18, 7.3.19.

Monday
Bellwork:
Complete the chart on p. 111 #5
TLW view a PowerPoint presentation on Ch 6.1
TLW take notes on the slide that the teacher states are important.
Tuesday:
Define: colonies, annexed, textiles
TLW read and discuss 6.2 They will also complete a voc. worksheet
Wednesday:
Bellwork:
Define the rest of 6.2 terms
Begin working of 6.3 Government and Economics of the US
Thursday:
Bellwork: Make a comparison chart of what your life might be like in a communist vs. democratic country
Discuss bellwork
Students will break up into groups and make a presentation of the economy of each section in the US. They will have a worksheet that guides them.
Give out study guide for HW
Friday
Bellwork: Define second-growth forests, megapolis, diversify, center-pivot irrigation, trade deficint, strip mining
Present the projects and review ch 6

Language Arts
Monday:
Bellwork: #11 A's complete then highlight or circle all verbs in sentences
Review of Verbs pg. 356 in green grammar book (in class set)
TTW go over the diagnostic preview outloud with the class.
TLW complete ex. 1 and 2 on thier own. They will turn this in on Tuesday. Teacher will provide assistance as needed
If we have time students in 5th will finish the movie from Friday.
Tuesday:
Bellwork #11 B's complete and highlight or circle the verbs
TTW go over linking verbs with students using green grammar book.
TLW id all linking verbs in their bellwork for the past two days.
TLW complete ex. 3 pg. 359 on same paper as yesterday's work and turn in.
Wednesday:
Bellwork: #12 A's complete and circle verbs, id the different kinds
TLW complete the workbook activites on these two different kinds of verbs. We will discuss our answers as a group.
Thursday:
Bellwork #12 B's complete and circle all verbs, id the different kinds
TTW begin going of Author's Purpose today
TLW take notes about each purpose. TLW read in small groups and discuss what they think the author's purpose is for thier article. They will have differnet ones. A worksheet will accompany these articles as they float around the room in each group.
Friday:
Bellwork: Take notes about verbs on the board for test next week.
TLW take more notes as the teacher discusses linkig verbs.
TLW complete Rev. A and EX 4 with a partner in class.
They will chart thier answers and discuss with the class.

3rd period:
Language Arts
Bellwork the same as above each day.
Monday:
Make sure that study guides are finished. Review story together and answer questions.
Tuesday:
Test on Sleepy Hollow
Wed-Fri.
Begin Verbs follow the days Mon-Fri as stated above for Wed-Fri this week

TLW Finish reading The Legend Sleepy Hollow
TLW record in thier agenda book the week's test and quizes
TLW complete a sumary chart and get study questions
Tuesday:
Bellwork (#8 b's)
TLW Finish the study questions in class today and have a chance to ask questions about the book and vocabulary.
Wed:
Bellwork: Write five sentences using a vocabulary word in each. Try not to use the ones that you used in the bellwork last week.
TLW take a vocabulary quiz
Today, we will review nouns, pronouns, adjectives, then we will start verbs. We will be using the green classroom set of books for this whole unit.
TLW complete the diagnostic test on pg. 356 ( not for a grade) We will go over this in class today if we have time.
Thursday:
Bellwork: Write a paragraph (5 sentences) stating your opinion on the resolution of the book. Do you think that it was the Headless Horseman or Brom?
TLW take a reading test (this should take all class period) If the student finishes they will visit the reading corner or study for another class.
Friday:
No bellwork
I will take up bellwork on Monday.
I will be absent.
TLW view the movie The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

3rd period is a little bit behind the rest of my classes but will follow this schedule as they finish the book. Their test will be delayed to at lease Monday or Tuesday. I will let them know by Wed. of this week.

New grades have been posted. Please encourage your children to complete the bellwork and not to loose it. It is an easy 100. I check it for completion not accuracy. Many students are receiving back grades for no reason due to this.

Read and discuss Ch1 of TN textbook. Begin discussing the 6 regions of TN.
Complete a WS on the border states and the resources of TN for a grade.
Copy study questions from the board.
Tuesday:
Bellwork: Looking at your TN on the world map answer the following:
Is TN located in the Eastern or Western Hemisphere?
Is TN located East or West of the Prime Meridian?
Is TN located North or South of the Equator?
Is TN closer to the Artic Circle or the Antartic Circle?
Complete a WS on The Natural Regions of TN and The Rivers of TN
Keep reading and discussing the geography of TN
Wednesday:
Bellwork: How does geography influnce where people live?
Name 2 ways that population booms can cause a problem.
Project due today!!! Students will present these to the class. If we finish we will play a trivia game with informaiton from ch 5 and TN.
Thursday:
Bellwork: What is the difference between substistence and commerical agriculture?
What institutions are basic to all societies?
Review Ch 5 using PowerPoint. TLW fill in a study guide as we go through the slides.
Friday:
Ch. 5 combined with TN test.
If students finish they will begin reading ch 6 in class.

LA: Wed-Fri October

We will cover the same SPI's

Wed: Begin the introduction of folklore using pages 696 of the Lit. book. We will talk about the folklore of the world and work our way to American Folk Tales. We will begin reading a various folk tales this week. We will be defining some new terms, completing plot pyramids, and finding our own examples of all of the above.
Thurs: TTW read the Grimm's version of Cinderella. TLW make a Venn Diagram about the similarities and differences in the version read in class today in comparison to the disney versions. I will also read Red Ridding Hood to the class if we have time and they will make another Venn Diagram.
Fri: We will begin talking about American Folklore. TLW read about John Henry and listen to the Johnny Cash version of the tale. We will talk about other American Folk Tales as well.

Monday we will begin The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
