Begin talking about paraphrasing.
Monday:
Bellwork: Think of your favorite Disney Flick. Who is telling the story? Does their perspective change the story any? Would it be different if someone else told it?
TLW take notes on point of view in their note book. Then, we will listen to a song called The Lighthouse Song. TLW identify the point of view present.
HW: TLW complete a worksheet on point of view.
Tuesday:
Bellwork: What point of view was Annabell Lee written in?
TLW write structured poetry from different points of view. I will provide the format.

Social Studies 1/28-2/1
Monday:
Bellwork:
Finish up chapter today. We will finish off the study guide we began last week. Then we will complete a map activity in the WB.
Tues:
Bellwork:
Read and discuss Ch 18 in TN history book. Students will be given a project sheet in which they will discover TN gov. and economics.
If time allows we will play a trivia game for the 2nd half of the period to get ready for our test.
Wed:
No bellwork
Test today! After the test students will complete a map on Ch 15.
Thursday:
Bellwork: Read 298 What is unique about summer where Lars lives? What happens on January 20th?
TLW take notes and discuss the geography of the region. Then we will read an article about Loch Ness and debate whether a monster really lives in this Loch. If time allows we will also learn about Fingal the giant.
Friday:
Bellwork: How has ice shaped this region?
Today we will get to know the legends, history, and art of this area.
Begin class with a clip from Braveheart. Listen to Scotish and Irish music.
Veiw pages from the book of Kells to demonstrate art of the ancient Celtic people.
We will also dicuss Stonehenge and its possible known uses.

Bellwork: Analogies
TLW take notes from a PP presentation to review the writing process. If time allows the student will evaluate their own work. Students will rewrite the paper tonight for HW if we get to this second step.
Tuesday:
Bellwork: Correct Sentences
TLW Correct someone elses paper with a red ink pen and evaluate on a WS given byt he teacher. HW will be for the student to rewrite the essay tonight correcting the essay.
Wednesday:
Bellwork: Main Idea Activity
TLW evaluate thier work one last time before turning it in.
Students will view different grades of essays on the overhead. We will discuss what makes each one good and bad.
Thursday:
Bellwork: Write a topic sentence for the given topic on the board.
Practice writing introductions to at least 2-3 different topics.
Friday:
Bellwork: List in order the parts of the writing process and explain the use of each briefly.
Students will complete a 45 min. timed writing. It will be graded for the introduction and one other anonymous paragraph.
The topic will be revealed on Friday.
**These timed writings help get students ready for next years' 8th grade writing assessment.

Read Holocaust Poetry and cover the literary devices present using our literary notes
