Language Arts March 24-28

Monday:
Belllwork; On overhead correct the sentences overhead # 5
TLW use prefixes and suffixes to make new words in a class game on the overhead. TLW also receive a handout with a list of common prefixes and suffixes. TLW then try to interpret words on a WS using their own prior knowledge and the handout. We will discuss.
Tuesday:
Bellwork: Guess the meaning of the following words:
1. semiannual
2. remedial
3. antiinflammatory
TLW create new words and post them on the wall.
TLw then complete the overhead sheet matching up prefixes with their root.
Wed:
Bellwork: Guess the meanings:
1. oversight
2. submerge
3. subconscious
4. foreshadow
TLW read The Picture of Dorian Grey out of READ mag. Students will have a quiz Friday over the story and the suffixes and prefixes on the WS.
Thurs:
Bellwork: questions about grey to be made later
Finish story if needed.
TLW rev. main ideas, symbolism, and foreshadowing aloud as a class.
TLW create a plot pyramid on The Picture of Dorian Grey
Friday:
Bellwork: None
Study for quiz-5 mins.

Social Studies 3/10-3/14

Monday:
Bellwork: Label the regions of TN on a map
TLW rev. TN information for about 5 mins.
TLW then take an open notes test on Russia.
Upon completion of the test TLW read page 594 and make a chart comparing the advantages and disadvantages of being a student in Japan.
Tuesday:
QUIZ ON JAPAN ON FRIDAY
Bellwork: Define 28.1
TLW get introduced and rev. information concerning earthquakes and volcanoes. TLW then view a video about the ring of fire which includes Japan.
Wed:
Bellwork: Define 28.2
View a PowerPoint and take notes
Thursday:
Bellwork: Define 28.3
Complete a WS on section 3 for HW.
Summarize Japan after reading and taking a few notes. We will summarize using an ACRONYM on the board to make this easier to remember.
Friday:
Bellwork: None
TLW take a quiz over all information for the week on Japan only. We will test over Korea when we return even though it is in the same unit. We are splitting it up. This quiz will take the place of a test for Japan.
TLW then view a few selected clips form Memoirs of s Geisha. This will be used to promoted discussion of culture in Japan.

Students will read page 282 Feng Shui Your Room out of the MCR in class and complete the activity at the end

They will complete a series of activities in the book for practice.

WB pages 94-100 will be completed and turned in.
Wed:

Thursday:
TLW continue with the online quizes. Handouts on suffixes and prefixes will be given out and an online quiz for practice will be given. A suffix quiz will take place on Tuesday of next week.
Friday
TLW read King Midas and the selection attached at the end of the story. We will complete the TCAP practice at the end outloud.

SS 3/3-3/7

Monday

TLW complete a newpaper latitude and longitude activity. Then, TLW read aloud with the class and take notes to complete section 27.2.

TLW complete notes on section 4 and 5 to finish up the chapter.
